ABOUT EDMUND THOROLD
Soon after leaving University in London Edmund started a nomadic life spending years in South Africa, east and west coast USA, the French Riviera and finally landing up in Prague in the Czech Republic. Now he spends his time between London, Prague and the Costa del Sol.
He saw out the last years of South Africa's apartheid regime and still travels back to Cape Town whenever the opportunity arises. His favourite place in the world.
In the 1990's he travelled often to Russia as that country was emerging from the grip of communism but largely fell into the hands of a few oligarchs. He became one of the few Western businessmen that managed to succeed there, something he puts down to his experiences in South Africa.
Today he still has many friends from Russia and Ukraine and is deeply troubled by the ongoing conflict in the region. A war with no justification as far as he is concerned and he was the first to welcome a host of Ukrainian refugees that fled to Prague at the start of the invasion.
A great lover of tennis, fine dining and fast cars he now enjoys writing fiction that brings present day challenges to life, such as the new Great Game, the superpowers struggle for dominance, AI, Covid and much more.
