DO YOU ENGAGE WITH YOUR INNER CHILD?

Engage with Your Inner Child: Nastya's Journey of Healing and Self-Discovery in Eternal Blue

The concept of the "inner child" in psychology and therapy originates from the psychoanalytic tradition, particularly the work of Carl Jung.

Carl Jung

Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, introduced the concept of the "inner child" as part of his theory of the collective unconscious.

He suggested that individuals carry within them an unconscious reservoir of experiences, memories, and emotions from childhood that continue to influence their behaviour and psyche into adulthood.

Jung believed that accessing and integrating these aspects of the self could lead to personal growth and healing.

Nastya one of the leading characters from my Eternal Blue has been to see her psychiatrist who has recommended Nastya tries to talk to her inner child. Nastya was taken from her Czech mother in Prague at a young age and then grew up with her father a Russian in Moscow. She also has Ukrainian grand-parents who have recently died in the conflict there which has worsened her mental state.

Nastya sat in her psychiatrist's office, feeling a mix of apprehension and curiosity.

She took a deep breath, ready to embark on this new journey of self-discovery.

This what she is told.

Think of your inner child as that little version of you who's still munching on cereal while watching Saturday morning cartoons.

It's the part of you that knows exactly how to have fun, throws tantrums when it doesn't get its way, and giggles uncontrollably at silly jokes.

So, grab a metaphorical magnifying glass and let's go exploring!

What does your inner child love?

Maybe it's skipping through puddles, building forts out of blankets, or singing into a hairbrush

microphone like a rock star.

And what makes it cranky?

Perhaps it's broccoli, rainy days, or getting stuck in traffic.

Now, let's dive into the emotional rollercoaster!

Does your inner child throw a parade when it gets a compliment, hide under the covers when it's scared, or dance with joy when it sees a puppy?

Embrace the chaos of your inner playground!

Here's a dialogue between Nastya and her inner child:

"Alright, inner child,"

Nastya began, her voice gentle yet determined.

"Let's have a chat, shall we?"

Her inner child, a fragile yet resilient version of herself, looked up with wide eyes, mirroring Nastya's curiosity.

"Sure, Nastya. What do you want to talk about?"

Nastya took a deep breath, pondering her first question carefully.

"Tell me, little one, what was your favourite memory from our time in Prague with Mom?"

The inner child's eyes lit up with nostalgia as she reminisced.

"I loved walking through the cobblestone streets of Prague, hand in hand with Mom. The sound of church bells echoing through the air, the smell of freshly baked pastries from the corner bakery—it felt like a fairytale."

Nastya nodded, a faint smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

"Yes, those were beautiful times indeed."

The mood shifted slightly as Nastya posed her next question, her voice tinged with sadness.

"And what about our time in Moscow with Dad? What do you remember most fondly?"

Her inner child's expression grew sombre as she recalled their days in Moscow.

"I remember feeling safe and protected with Dad, even amidst the chaos of the city. Our cozy evenings by the fireplace, listening to his stories about Mother Russia—they provided a sense of belonging."

Nastya's heart ached at the memories, but she pressed on, determined to explore every facet of her inner child's world.

"I know it's difficult, but I have to ask—how did you feel when we lost Grandma and Grandpa in the conflict in Ukraine?"

Tears welled up in her inner child's eyes as she struggled to find the words.

"It was like losing a piece of myself, Nastya. They were our link to our heritage, our roots. Their absence leaves a void that can never be filled."

Nastya reached out to comfort her inner child, a silent vow forming in her mind to honour their memory.

"I understand, little one. We'll get through this together."

As their conversation continued, Nastya and her inner child delved deeper into their shared past, uncovering buried emotions and hidden truths. With each question asked and answered,

Nastya felt a sense of healing and reconciliation, a newfound connection to her inner self.

In this dialogue, Nastya engages in a heartfelt conversation with her inner child, exploring memories from her past and confronting the pain of loss. Through their dialogue, Nastya begins to understand the impact of her upbringing and experiences on her current mental state, paving the way for healing and self-discovery.

But will Russia and Ukraine be able to talk to their inner child and resolve their feelings after this terrible war is over?

One hopes that they can but it's a big ask. In the meantime, Nastya as a FSB officer has her

demons to deal with that give her no peace.

Will conversations with her inner child be enough to keep her sanity or will the monsters in her dreams reign supreme?
