OVERLAPPING WORLDS, LABELS AND BOXES

Embracing Diversity in "Eternal Blue": Breaking Free from Labels and Boxes.

It's human nature to separate things, classify them and put them in separate boxes.

We do that with our emotions.

We’re sad, we're happy but we hardly ever describe ourselves as sad and happy at the same time.

We do the same thing with people.

He’s a ****er, should have this label, she should have that one.

In fact,

We are obsessed with labelling things and people, even ourselves.

Label, then we box, that’s our thought process.

But is that really logical?

All dogs have four legs but are all four legged animals, dogs.

If it flies, it's a bird...really?

Our upbringing and our education, even the stuff we watch on TV, it's all about

Programming us to label things, or people

Then find convenient boxes to put them in.

There’s a danger we have developed our brains into just putting labels on things in our mental boxes, somehow thinking that the boxes keep things apart, not bring things together.

As in real life, there is no such thing as boxes, or at least not for us humans.

Unless of course, we acknowledge that sooner or later

We may end up in a long wooden box,

Though, that’s such a morbid thought and does not deserve further comment.

We should be living our lives following the philosophy of ‘carpe diem’, live for the day. Most of my protagonists seem to manage to do that and they also are good at avoiding boxes.

Or is it that they are avoiding labels,

They are able to morph like chameleons

from being a climate activist at one moment and a terrorist or a spy the next.

But seriously is there a great difference between a violent protestor and a terrorist,

a spy and an actor, a drug lord a potential star for the next TV show?

A dictator and an elected leader?

So in putting together the cast of characters for the 'Eternal Blue' Series I have tried to avoid heroes and villains.

If you like,

They all have their good and bad sides.

But none of them could really be called a classic villain.

Also none could rarely be a classic James Bond style hero either.

They are just people, mostly trying to jump out of their respective boxes, avoid labels and passionate about life in general.

Will they have defining moments that will radically

Change their perception of reality?

Well that is supposed to be a required ingredient for any good fiction book.

But I’m afraid if you were expecting that well tried and trusted approach, you may not find it

in my writing.

I’m too much of a rebel to always stay on the tried and trusted path.

Where’s the creativity in that?

I want to tell a story, that is

Unstructured and just developed organically.

So, if you were expecting the normal plot structure, let me apologize now.

If I just did what everyone else did I would no longer be a rebel and lose that all important label.

You would have to find a different box to put me in.

Hopefully not the long wooden one referred to above.

In this narrative, I consciously steer away from traditional hero-villain dynamics.

Each character, nuanced with shades of good and bad, transcends the limitations of archetypal roles.

"Eternal Blue" shuns the predictable, refusing to adhere to the conventional hero's journey or villain's downfall.

Instead,

'Eternal Blue' paints a mosaic of individuals passionately navigating life's complexities.

Anticipate unconventional character arcs as my protagonists defy the norm.

"Eternal Blue" rejects the tried-and-true narrative structures, opting for an organic, unstructured storytelling approach.

As a rebel at heart, I stray from the beaten path,

Injecting creativity into every chapter.

If you seek a narrative that defies conventions, this is it.

Let go of expectations, and join me on a journey where labels and boxes cease to exist—a rebellion against conformity.
